HOW IT ALL STARTED
It started in April of 2020. During Covid. A young girl Taonga, who was an Aunt to a young Cerebral Palsy boy by the name of Joshua, asked me what could be done for a child with Cerebral Palsy.
I ran a post on Facebook and I got a message from a Private hospital to bring him in to be examined, for free. We did that and they informed me that Joshua had to go into Rehabilitation, physiotherapy and speech therapy. The hospital recommended a school for us to send him to. Bindu Jerald was working for this school . Bindu is an Occupational therapist and speech therapist, and Bindu took charge over Joshua.
We raised money for Joshua's school fee's on Facebook and
Joshua improved so much, in Rehabilitation and that is when I realised how important rehabilitation was for a cerebral palsy child.
Bindu went on to form her own school called Color's Day Care Centre.
When we first met Joshua, he was lying flat on his back on the floor. After being under Bindu's care, he learnt to crawl, pull himself up, and eat nshima by hand. And he learnt to speak clearly, his favourite word being "Nekana" meaning I don't want. 🤣🤣🤣
We looked after Joshua for 3 years, but sadly due to a family member, we could no longer continue our full support. We still involve Joshua, in our programs, but not as closely as before.
6 months, after Taonga brought us Joshua, another Aunt, Lillian from Ndola asked me to help her niece with cerebral palsy Natasha to go for ABM treatment in Johannesburg South Africa. I went on Facebook and we raised the money for them to fly to SA for treatment.
This is when I first learnt about the Hyperbaric oxygen chamber.
In July of 2022 I was connected to Neurogen Brain and Spine Institute in Mumbai India who do stem cell therapy treatment, and is the only guaranteed improvement on a cerebral palsy child.
In August 2022 Neurogen Brain and Spine Institute wrote a letter to The Minister of Health to bring a stem cell hospital to Zambia.
This was quite a journey.
We appealed to the President direct after 2 years and the President by the Grace of God has now approved stem cell therapy treatment and the Hyperbaric oxygen chamber, in 2026. We are extremely grateful to His Excellency in this giant step for our children and other patients, and for Zambia.
I still work with Neurogen Brain and Spine Institute in Mumbai India. I market them across Africa
We were informed that a child who goes for stem cell therapy treatment in India must come back home, and remain in intensive rehabilitation.
At this point is when I now realised how crucial a rehabilitation facility would be for the children. Not only in Lusaka, but nation wide.
Since 2024 I have been putting together building our own Rehabilitation Centre.
Finally, we are just 5 weeks away from our official opening.

I must make it clear that we are not a day school that takes care of special needs children, the parents can not come and drop off a child in the morning and collect them in the afternoon.
A parent will bring their child for a session and take the child home immediately after their session.
Bindu Jerald offers a day school as well as rehabilitation sessions for the child. Her school is called Color's Day Care Centre.
My Foundation will continue to support Bindu Jerald by sending our children to her who need day care.
