Archery in Zambia has grown steadily from a small specialized sport into an active and developing community. A major early milestone came in 2001 when an eight-member Zambian team finished second at the African Field Archery Championships in Namibia, winning multiple gold medals and setting records. After a quieter period, the sport was revived with the reopening of the Lusaka Archery Club in 2014 and the establishment of the Mkushi Archery Club. The rise of 3-D and field archery has attracted new participants through regular shoots. Today, with active ranges in Lusaka and Mkushi and events like the 2025 African Regional Field Archery Championship, the sport continues to grow nationwide.
